Tent Details / Features Inner and outer tent connection All Helsport tents are pitched with inner and outer tent connected. This is ideal for our wet and windy Scandinavian conditions. The tent is not delivered with the inner connected, but after the first assembly this only has to be dis-assembled for drying or maintenance. The inner tent is connected to the flysheet with a user friendly system consisting of side release buckles, snap hooks and elastic cords. The connection of the inner and outer tent makes the tent incredibly fast pitched, and the distance between the inner and outer tent is kept at the right distance to insure good ventilation and prevent condensation problems. If it is desired to divide the carrying load, the two parts may be separated during transportation. One may also choose to release some or all of the connecting points to make a large room for cooking. Unique pole channel system There are pros and cons to both internal and external pole channels - each method has its advantages. Helsport has once again set new industry standards by designing a hybrid system combining the best of both internal and external pole channels. The tent is pitched by threading the poles from the outside and in to the internal pole channels. The colour coded pole channel opening is also marked with reflecting material to make them easy to find in the dark. The colour on the opening matches the corresponding pole. The pole stops in a reinforced pole pocket, and a sturdy pole cup holds the other end. The fly sheet is then tightened by pulling the adjustment webbing. Our pole channel system has:

Picture 2: Helsport ́s pole cup and adjustment PolesAll tent models have colour coded poles and full anodizing coverage, which gives maximum corrosion resistance. The elastic cord is cold resistant and withstands temperatures down to 40 degrees below without being damaged. Each Helsport tent comes complete with a repair kit, including a pole section and a repair sleeve TREK: Yunan Pressfit are tent poles in the aluminium alloy 7001-T6. This alloy has good resistance to permanent bending and high ultimate tensile strength. Each model has specially designed prebend and dimensions based on height, diameter and expected degree of stress. PRO and X-TREM: We use DAC Featherlite NSLTM poles in the PRO and X-TREM segment. These poles have an expanded end that gives 20% higher strength in the ends than in the main tube. This makes it possible to use thinner walls and still have a strong pole. The poles are also treated with a green anodizing process that reduces the use of chemicals. LAVVU POLES: For the different lavvus we have two types of poles in different lenghts. For the Varanger, LavvuLight and Finnmark there is a lightweight aluminium pole, whereas the Kongsvold has a strong pole of steel. POLES FOR GAPAHUK AND MULTIDUK: Both gapahuk and multiduk are delivered with segments of aluminium poles. Guy pointsAll tents have reinforced guy points and all X-TREME tents also have guy point skirts. The guy point skirts are sewn onto wind exposed parts of the tent to increase the wind stability. The guy points have line managers to prevent the guy lines becoming tangled. All guy lines are made of tightly woven polyester and have a breaking strength of 75 kg. For season 2014 we are introducing reflex woven into the guy lines for better visibility. PegAll Helsport pegs are produced in aluminium, anodized to be resistant against rust and many are coloured red to make them easier to locate. TREK/PRO: TREK and PRO-tents have a v-shaped peg at 12 grams and 15 cm. The v-construction makes a rigid peg with very low weight. SuperLight: SuperLight tents have a quite simple spike peg at only 6 grams. Some of the models, depending on size, have a combination of v-pegs and spike pegs. X-TREM : The X-TREM tents have a v-shaped aluminium peg at 15 grams and 19 cm. LAVVU: The big lavvus all come with steel v-pegs at 36 grams and 18.5 cm. ZippersZippers can literally be a make or break component and are therefore critical to durability and the enjoyment of your tent. We choose only high-quality zippers from YKK, the world’s leading zipper manufacturer. YKK zippers are reliable and easy to use in all conditions. Many Helsport models also have zipper covers to prevent leakage or icing under cold conditions. Mesh gear loft
Storm flapsThe storm flaps are perfect when pitching the tent in rocky conditions where it’s hard to find good spots for the pegs - and also for when the ground is loose, as in sand or snow. They can be used as extra insurance if the weather turns bad. Storm flaps are standard on all X-TREM tents but can be added to all models when specially ordered. |
