In a word... Amazing! I had thought about getting some of these for a while now
and I'm glad I did. After a day walking up Bow Fell with the path being nothing
but sheet ice turning to snow around the 650m mark these really came into their
own. I was walking on ice as if it were perfectly dry pavement, while my friend
fell over... well I stopped counting after about 5. If you are thinking of
getting some don't think, just buy them! they give you a lot more confidence
when walking in conditions where full crampons aren't needed but just boots
alone won't cut it. They are very easy to put on and take off and take up very
little space or weight. If I had to scrutinize them in anyway, I would maybe
say they could do with a bit more protection on the rubber rand, but other
walkers that commented on them (also wearers) said theirs have been fine, but
your mileage may vary.

Just a
quick blog on the recently attended Great Eccleston Show near Garstang. A
regular at the show, I was demonstrating Riven Oak work alongside Jim Shelliker
of Acorn Woodcraft and Denis Rolandson of DR Tree Services ( Both mates ).
The
weather was boiling hot on both days and lots of people were enjoying the
activities, demonstrations and the world famous Tractor pull.
A great
time was had by all.

On a recent trekking trip I tried out the Trek N Eat meals. I varied the main meals for 6 days and they are quick, convenient and
TASTY.
Tamarack kindly sourced me the rice pudding from the same range
(not listed on the website at the time) so my evening main meal and pud gave
me 1000+ calories... if you can eat it all !!!
Add the excellent
Adventure Foods Expedition Breakfast and that gives a base of 1600+ calories
a day for about 450g weight.
It also meant I needed only a GSI Halulite
Mnimalist pot to boil water and a long Optimus spatula (to eat from the
pouch) as my kitchen equipment... fantastic
